Jonah's Fish and Grits in Thomasville, GA

My former classmate owns this restaurant along with his wife.  My family has eaten here a few times but 4/12/12 was my first time visiting the restaurant.  My parents took me here for my birthday dinner.

I ordered the catfish with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans.  The catfish was good as was the batter but combined they made the fish taste dirty.  It was still very good.  I think changing the corn meal would have helped the breading mesh better with the catfish and not taste dirty.

My mother got porchchops with the special Granny Smith apple, carmalized onions, and bacon topping.  She loved it and it looked amazing.  I cannot review it though as I did not taste it.

My father got the Shrimp Pesto.  This was the best out of the three.  It is described as "sautéed shrimp and asparagus in olive oil tossed in a light pesto cream sauce and fettuccine, garnished with
toasted ciabatta bread." It was $13.9 and well worth it.

I got my normal birthday dessert of Key Lime Pie.  It has a homemade crust as was amazing.  I wish I had one right now.

Rancho Grande in Monticello, FL

This is a family owned restaurant and is the only Mexican restaurant in Monticello.  I have eaten here many times when I go up to visit my parents.  The main guy is really nice as are most of the other staff members.  The last visit our server was rude to me but that is not the norm for this restaurant.  If you are traveling on I-10, 90, or 19 you must make a pit-stop to this restaurant.

Refried beans: amazing, creamy, and a must order if you like refried beans.

The tacos are good but the seasoning varies batch to batch but they are all good.  I have the beef and chicken each time.

California burrito:  this is what most of my family orders.  I have not tasted this though.  This is a huge portion of food and my family says only to order it if you are really really hungry.

My Blog

I LOVE food and eating out.  I run another blog that is about recipes I come up with for food as I love to bake and cook.  This blog is about the food I go out and eat.  I am kind of picky when it comes to food eating out after my boyfriend told me "you are paying for it so if you do not like it, send it back."

Recently I have spent time enjoying eating out and the atmosphere.  These post are strictly from my point of view and may include the opinions of others that were dining with me.

Eastside Bistro at Fashion Square Mall

We went to the Eastside Bistro located at the Fashion Square Mall at 2pm yesterday and were the only ones in the resturant.  The place was beautiful inside.  They had a sign saying they could hold up to 150 people for weddings, receptions, birthday parties, and other events.  I had no idea that a place in the mall could look so amazing. They even has a section up near the windows that could have curtains pulled to be a little more separated from the rest of the restaurant.

Our appetizer was chips/pita with spinach dip.  We asked for both the chips and pita bread.  The dip was creamy and the best I have had.  The pita bread was tasty and definitely something I would recommend with this dip.  We even got some to take home.

I ordered the Fettuchine Verde for $9.99 and my boyfriend ordered the same but with chicken for $3 more.  Seeing the $9.99 price I thought they would be smaller portions and that we would not be sattisfied with splitting a plate.  Needless to say that I wish we had just ordered one plate.  The dishes came out and where huge!  We both brought home leftovers.

The Alfredo sauce was a heavy white sauce with little flavor.  I make better sauce at home but it was not bad.  The pasta was cooked correctly and was no to under or over done.  There where only two slices of mushrooms on my plate and just a few peas.  I wish there had been more.

The server was great.  He did not bug us at all but made sure that we had what we needed.  I had another glass of sweet tea without ice brought to me just in time since I had about 2 more sips left and I did not even have to ask.

Overall, I plan on going back to his Bistro to try other dishes.  Not only is it close to my house but it is a great deal for the amount of food served.
